Town of Cats + Balkanoes + Clan Dextine
October 7, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - October 8, 2016 @ 2:00 am£5 – £8
Rescued from the water’s numbing embrace by Old Ma and her trusty sidekick Sooz ‘The BallCrusher’; Joe, Adam, Barney, Jake, Toby, Henry and Nik were shoved unceremoniously behind instruments, mewling and dripping. Ol’ Ma took up her trusty sax, and told them all to play up or pack it in. And play they did. Spun fucked-up fairy tales of their former lives and spat ‘em out over brassy hooks, skanking rhythms, hypnotic grooves and tantalising melodies… They sang starry-eyed of childhood wonders and lustily of life’s little highs. Can’t sing? They’ll make you. Can’t dance? They’ll make you. They are Town of Cats.
Providing Gyp-Hop Ska with lashings of Latino and a side of Funk, these crazy cats know all too well how to get a howling party going!
Formed in 2010 in Cambridge, the Balkanoes fuse Eastern European and Jewish folk music with a joyous energy to guarantee a Balkan bash of mammoth proportions.
Moving seamlessly from traditional klezmer to gypsy grooves and unique takes on well-known classics (and the odd gangster rap…), The Balkanoes will keep you dancing all night long!
Clan Dextine takes his audience on a journey through bass and time namely from swing to ska, blues to Balkan, roots to rave and beyond.
He likes to throw some globalized whomp and glitched-up stomp into the mix and has always got his swangin’ D’n’B up the sleeves for when the moment is right!
The venue is open from 10:30am, serving food from 12-10pm. Happy Hour is 5-7pm!
