The Hamiltons

May 26, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Free entry!

Whilst still at primary school, The Hamiltons‘ dad used to park up outside, announce the siblings had doctor’s appointments to get to, then take them both on road trips to gigs as his backing band. Venues would hang in a thick fog of tobacco smoke, playing to packed out rooms of Hells Angels. Studio time was cheaper during school time, so they’d be at the studio rather than at school. Such behaviour continued right up until the age of 18, when Emma (vocals/piano/accordion) had to explain to teachers why they shouldn’t let her dad take her out of school that day: it was the day of her HSC exams – Australia’s equivalent of A-levels.

It’s still late night, low lit bars that suit The Hamilton’s adventurous, playful music best: a dancefloor down the front for those that want it, Martini glasses and table service round the edges for those that have found them to be the perfect soundtrack to their late night flirting.
When they’re not having their idols banging on about how great they are (“a total triumph on so many levels” Van Dyke Parks), the band are either being touted by Glastonbury as part of the festival’s Emerging Talent Competition, or having N*Sync almost buy one of their songs off them.

If a song wants a New Orleans style, with hip hop beats and electronic synths, mixed in with folk and Everly Brothers harmonies, The Hamiltons are the band to make that happen! Both half French, Tom produced Emma’s first LP “La Musique” in 2012, and they’re now recording their full band debut album at Guy Chambers’ studio. Everything is written by the two of them and played by the two of them, with Tom again handling all arrangements and production. Adrian Hall (DuBlonde/Black Eyed Peas/Simply Red) is mastering at Abbey Road Studios.
