The Last Skeptik + The Beatbox Collective + DJ Feline
June 4, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - June 5, 2016 @ 2:00 am£7 – £8
2015 signalled the launch of the infamous DJ and producer Skeptik’s new cinematic, eclectic and fiery E.P ‘Revenge Is The Best Success’, featuring a bevy of young talent on vocal duties – from Dream Mclean and new Virgin EMI signee Matt Wills, to newcomers Folly Rae and Caragh Campbell, alongside Skeptik’s brilliant live musicians. In 2016 already, Skeptik has entirely pro- duced Mikill Pane’s Let MC It E.P, Trim’s forthcoming E.P, Scrufizzer’s single ‘Story of Jin’, a Club Sloth mix for Charlie Sloth, and Folly Rae’s BBC 1xtra Playlisted single ‘Hard To Love’
From his 2013’s fantastically diverse, cinematic solo debut entitled ‘Thanks For Trying’ released on BBE Records, DJ, producer and composer The Last Skeptik has continued on a genre defying journey through electronic music and beyond. Following in the footsteps of J Dilla and Pete Rock, Skeptik took it leftfield, adding an orchestra of musicians over neck-snapping hip hop pro- duction, and has been lauded by press, fans and radio alike. Recent years have seen Skeptik tour around globe, have mixes on rotation on Noisey, BBC1xtra, DefJam.com and BBC Radio One, and release a video for every song from ‘Thanks For Trying’ (16 original videos in total), as well as compos- ing the soundtrack to a BAFTA nominated short film, Vice Magazine’s docu- mentary on ATL Stripclubs, adverts for Adidas, Puma, Powerade and Reebok, and on BBC’s coverage of the 2012 Olympics.
2014 saw Skeptik unleash his highly anticipated ‘I Don’t Even Like You’ E.P on BBE Records, alongside his 9 piece live band show, and writing and pro- ducing for a bevy of artists such as Mikill Pane, Giggs, Bonkaz, Nick Brewer, Rizzle Kicks, Lunar C, Scrufizzer, Trim and Dream Mclean.
Add to that scene stealing DJ sets around the world, from Coachella to SXSW and supporting Charli XCX on her U.S tour, as well as opening up shows for the likes of 2Chainz, Childish Gambino, and Wu Tang Clan, as well as per- forming as part of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express.
The Beatbox Collective (TBC) is a group of the top beatbox talent in the UK. Formed in Summer 2011, TBC had humble beginnings in a rehearsal studio when 6 amazing beatboxers came together and started with the question “What do we do now?” The answer was an incredible jam format showcasing individual talents as well as group musicality and this translated perfectly to the stage.
With The Beatbox Collective, two shows are never the same and often the line-up of beatboxers is different as all members are solo artists in their own right. They are known for always maintaining a high standard, resulting in spectacular crowd reactions and an encore.
With TBC’s shows, whether they are performing a showcase battle, passing the beat around, performing full tracks in unison or highlighting individual talents, you can always expect a mind-blowing, original and unique show that truly showcases the best of beatboxing in all of its forms.
