Tell Tale Tusk + The Odd Folk + DJ Cous Cous

March 4, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - March 5, 2016 @ 2:00 am

Tell Tale Tusk have been making music together since 2012. What started out as a 3 part harmony a capella group playing their own arrangements of folk tunes, has evolved into a 6 piece extraviganza. Their original music draws influences from folk, gypsy jazz and klezmer.

Their noises are made by three vocalists, two clarinets, fiddle, double bass, acoustic guitar and percussion. They are currently recording their debut album which they hope to have ready for the start of the next festival season!

They have performed at a whole host of festivals, including Glastonbury, Small World, Cock and Bull and Rollright Fayre. Their music has also taken them to perform at many London events and parties including Rumpus and A Curious invitation.

The Odd Folk are a collection of multi-intrumentalists led by Morgan Val Baker, who plays just about everything including all the percussion with his feet. Sam Brookes provides up to 6 different types of guitar, always with a certain charm, while Shelley Macphail adds pianos and organs, hyperchondria and harmonies. Guests continue to drop in and out and can change the sound in a second.

“…the best folk band you’ve never heard of!” say The Guardian. A passionately ramshackle quintet, playing their own brand of “triumphant folk”. Recently seen supporting young troubadour Johnny Flynn and folk legend Steve Tilston, the boys are equally at home on a main stage of the corner of an old barn, treating each ‘giggle’ with the same gusto and aiming to make people smile and bounce!

“Nick Drake Meets a gypsy rave!” Todd Kahl – Folkreal

Plus DJ Couscous stirring up his international tagine of swing and skank!!!! Purveyor of extraordinary sounds from across the globe, his style of music can vary wildly on the night, incorporating elements of Reggae, Balkan, AfroBeat, Cumbia, Drum N Bass, Electroswing, Breaks, and Ska. The tempos may change, but the vibe stays constant, Swing n’ Skank with a Funk and Soul heart.
