Sunday Showcase Series

September 1, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm

We welcome one and all to a new monthly musical event (on the first Sunday of each month) at the unique and iconic Magic Garden.

The evening’s entertainment begins at 5pm, and consists of six 25-minute showcase sets from talented local artists. July’s showcase was all boys, as it turned out, so to balance the books in August all our stars are girls!

Free entry, live music, an excellent sound system, friendly staff, good vibes, a vast selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, delicious food AND a truly magic garden! Everything you need for a chilled-out summer Sunday evening.

5.00 — KATYA

Katya began singing in December 2018 and it was love at first song! Her love for music and the stage grew even further when in February she collaborated with Panama Dave for the first time.
Today’s set will explore a wide range of covers chosen purely because they are her favourite songs or by artists she considers to be incredible at songwriting. Off the back of this set and her 8 month anniversary performing, Katya will venture further into writing her own music and will hopefully continue to perform with Dave with the aim to drag him to New Orleans Jazz Fest next year for a set or two!

5.40 — PATTI PAIGE – pattipaigesingersongwriter.wixsite.com/

“My journey through music started long before I picked up a guitar. I traveled with my family to Singapore, Kenya, Shetland and many parts of England. I had some lessons at fourteen when I got a cheap guitar from a Canadian tutor. He taught me the basic chords and picks and introduced me to Canadian country and Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. As an adult I travelled around Europe and observed what I saw in the environment. Mostly my songs relate to that on Trobairitz. I didn’t play for years while my children were growing up. Then, encouraged by friends and open mics, I started writing my own songs after brushing up on covers. That has opened up a flood gate and I am now compiling new songs. A big thank you to Buswell Music and Dark Secret Ingredient studios (Sweden) for realising my ambition to record.”
Patti will be joined on stage by Laura Victoria on cello and by one or more guitarists!

Later the same year she released a single entitled ‘Tied Together’, especially written for Amazon Prime Series ‘Mafia Ties’ which is due to come out July 2019. In April 2019 she released her jazz-EP ‘Someday’, which features the talents of among others esteemed jazz-saxophonist Dave O’Higgins and was produced by Mariska herself and her pianist Liam Burton.
