Sunday Folk with Jim Evans + Sky Coloured

July 17, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Free entry!

Come and relax with some Sunday folk & roasts at the Magic Garden!

Jim Evans is a folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who, with a lyrical approach to the genre, draws in elements from a vast scope of roots music from both sides of the Atlantic. He has firmly set up camp in a tradition of songwriters who discover, borrow and then take the genre to a new place, often with vivid imagery and the British disposition at its centre.

His debut album, ‘On Seeds and Shoes’, was released in June 2014, and since then he has been extensively playing his finger picking guitar and frailing banjo for audiences all over the UK and in Germany.

A new musical project based in south London. Influences include Randy Newman, Sly Stone, and church music.
Sky Coloured is led by songwriter Anthony T Jackson, who studied composition before getting involved in a number of original material projects in London. sky coloured is his ‘solo’ band, which will be gigging in and around London this summer. An album – Starting Time – produced by Ben Hayes, will be released later in the year.
On Sunday, he’ll be joined by the brilliant Flora Curzon (violin) and Emma-Jean Thackray (trumpet) for a stripped-back acoustic performance of songs from the upcoming album.
