Samson Sounds + Maxi Roots + Tom Spirals + Wobbley Social!

October 3, 2015 @ 9:00 pm - October 4, 2015 @ 2:00 am

Samson Sounds is a 5 piece live electronic act from the city of Glasgow. Their roots spring from the original Samson Soundsystem, a heavyweight handmade soundsystem built in 2008. This is shown by the large dub influence on their sound that incorporates musical elements from jazz, African highlife and blues to kwaito and steppas. The grooves played are tight, solid and never fail to bring warm happy vibes to any event.

Well known for dancing around with massive energy and positivity this group will always bring style and smiles to any party, regardless of the crowd!

When Maxi moved from Buenos Aires to Glasgow in ’08, he started one of the most successful reggae/dub bands in Scotland – The Mezzanine Allstars. He has since shared stages with legends such as Lee Scratch Perry, Toots and the Maytals, The Wailers, and Jimmy Cliff. Over the past six years, Maxi’s deep involvement in the Scottish dub scene gave him the opportunity to engage with few of his great influences like Mungos Hi Fi, Vibronics and Zion Train to name a few. This lead to a sick addiction for the BASS (and it’s not just the instrument we are talking about! Maxi now produces awesome dub tunes under the name MAXIROOTS.

They’ve also lined up emerging solo MC and reggae singer Tom Spirals (SkaYaMan):

Just when things seemed they are getting too serious, the Wobbley Social DJs will be there in force, spinning and slamming anything from Disco to Jazz to Reggae and Afro-wang-step. This crew have come together from some of Scotland’s most forward thinking musical groups; Cream T & Bann Fada are fresh out of Eden Festival’s Furry Chillum, Sombadi is one of the founders of Glasgow’s Frogbeats collective and Breezak Bass is the downtown soundbwoy of the Mungo’s HiFi posse!
