Poor Old Dogs + The Hellfire Orchestra + DJ Sacha Dieu
January 22, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - January 23, 2016 @ 2:00 am
Poor Old Dogs formed with a collective inclination for good, honest music. They reside in the nooks and crannies of Bristol and harbour a desire to sow their wild musical oats far and wide.
The band’s influences are wide and varied; the childhood friends share a love of traditional folk from the well-trodden paths situated this side of the Atlantic to the other. Their rhythm-led underpinning owes a lot to Skiffle by way of Punk whilst incorporating shades of the Caribbean along the way, be they Ska, Calypso or Dub.
4 years, many many shows. 1 full album, 1 soon to be released EP, all the beer and 1 broken jaw. In the years they’ve been playing together The Hellfire Orchestra have managed to combine their eclectic tastes in music with their shared love of great songwriting and punk rock ethics to deliver music that will make you throw shapes and listen intently in equal measures.
Hailing variously from South West London and the Kent Coast these boys have collectively played every dive in between on their way to your stereo. Leave your comfort zone, keep one eye on the door and come have a listen.
And, if you ever bump into them; buy them a drink, give them a floor to sleep on and hide the family silver.
Based in London, Sacha Dieu has been djing professionally since the late 90s. Sacha plays many genres and styles (From 1920s Jazz to Rhythm and Blues to the latest remixes, obscurities from around the world to well known classics). Sacha adapts his sets for each new occasion.
