Maroon Town + State of Play + DJ Pony + Loki DJs ft. Madam Manon
February 27, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - February 28, 2016 @ 2:00 am
Welcome to Maroon Town! To a live experience you will never forget. This nine-piece explosion of ska, rap and brassy dub is tearing up audiences around the world. Tens of thousands of people from Brazil to Jamaica, India to Canada, from Tajikistan to here in the UK.
Maroon Town formed in Brixton, London, by two childhood pals, fusing the spirituality, and cinematic sound of classic ska with contemporary street rap and a cheeky slice of Latin funk. The band takes its inspiration from the original rebels of Maroon Town in Jamaica who fought off the colonial invaders and set up their own independent community.
Throughout its rich illustrious history – from busking on the Metro of Barcelona to playing huge stadiums and arenas in Venezuela and festivals across UK, Europe and Asia, Maroon Town have never failed to deliver – and this year the band is intent on moving it up to another level. Join us on an exhilarating ride!!!
Blending elements of alternative rock, and socially conscious hip hop, State of Play wear a healthy disrespect for genre boundaries on their collective sleeve. Crossing seamlessly from the neo-soul swagger and urban vibes of The Roots, to the wearied tenderness of Lauryn Hill, to the thrashing drive of Rage Against the Machine and The Pixies – State of Play prove that you don’t have to play it safe to be accessible!
DJ Pony is a co-founder of the legendary Small World Solar Stage, a travelling bubble of beauty that graces festivals such as Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, and Sunrise, has two of its very own amazingly lovely festivals yearly, and hosts memorable indoor gatherings during the winter months in London.
Pony is renowned for his classic old skool funk and soul flavoured DJ sets, which dip into many other genres and have been delighting dancers and audiences for more than two decades.
We’ve also got the Loki DJs back on our decks – expect the bassiest, most delicious beats you could ask for from the creme de la creme of London’s musical mixologists! Plus DJ Madam Manon will be joining to add a little spice into the mix…
