Ghanaian highlife, afrobeat, reggae and ska fusionists K.O.G. & the Zongo Brigade damn near blew the roof off last time they took the Magic Garden stage!
The Zongo Brigade is an Afro-skank collective spearheaded by the exceptional and ineffably positive Ghanaian vocalist KOG (Kweku of Ghana.) The Sheffield based 9-piece have already multiplied their cult following with their release of ‘Akwaaba’ this January and their lively take on afrobeat and highlife, mixed with elements of ska, reggae, jazz and funk. Their songs tell Ghanaian stories of love, peace and social struggle. Their motto ‘Unity in Diversity’ embraces the eclectic mix of nationalities that make up the band.
DJ Kobayashi‘s musical styles vary! Everything from Swing, Rhythm and Blues, Oldies, Balkan, Gypsy and Electro Swing. You might know him from the fantastic Balkan group Gypsy Hill!
