His Trust Fund is the cocoon singer-songwriter Philippe François has spun around his songs. Abiding in the militaristic city-state of Antwerp he chafes his lyrics of love, loss, longing and other benefactions and misdemeanors of the human soul against the concrete heart of the city.
He is flanked by the gentle, swooning voices of Sara Raes and Eva Tulkens, weaving fine, tender threads around his melancholy. Jack of all trades Mattias Geernaert on double bass for years has been the backbone of the band. His passion for groove is the rock on which their songs rest. Guitar virtuoso Menno Buggenhout turns on the charm, wheeling between subtle guitar tapestries, intrepid solo’s and blazing distortion fires, ever precise and opulent.
Expect a night of ballads, roots and sixties folk, skirting along the universe of Leonard Cohen, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billie and Paul Simon.
