General Skank + The Defekters + Selecta Mad Max
January 15, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - January 16, 2016 @ 2:00 am

General Skank are a 9-piece reggae group hailing from London Town. Armed with dubby melodies, sweet politically conscious vocals, and a stylistic mashup that ranges from roots to rocksteady, dub to dancehall, and ska to drum ‘n’ bass General Skank are at the frontline of the Brit Reggae Revival Army. Currently touring their hugely dub inspired live show with the smooth and catchy vocal talent of ZICO (onlyjoe, Unit137) these guys will get your feet moving and your brain thinking.
“General Skank are the best unsigned young reggae band in the UK.” —
Earl Gateshead, Trojan Records
The band came together in 2013 through a mutual love for reggae music and music in general. Now, as much as ever, people need music as a way of releasing, enjoying and expressing their emotions. After months of rhythmic rehearsal, the band was ready for action; and with the addition of live dubs and effects, they are now taking the UK reggae scene by storm.
The Defekters came together in late 2007 and have been working and playing hard ever since. The band bring a unique blend of bitter/sweet basslines, riddims and riffs with a conscious message aimed to move people.
The Defekters have billed alongside top acts such as Zion Train, Dreadzone, Palma International, Nucleus Roots, The Selecter, Easy Star All Stars, King Prawn, Inner Terrestrials and The New Town Kings to name a few… Watch out for this four piece who love to make people dance to their unique Psychedelic/Reggae/Dub/Ska/Punk sound!
Selecta MadMax DJ/MC plays Tropical bass, zouk bass, dnb, ragga… Coming from a background of soundsystem culture, he soon found the connection with ragga and jungle and incorporated these influences into his sets.
A DJ that has always been driven by bass heavy music, Max’s performances highlight the depth of his music collection, with good vocal skills and the ability to switch genres at any moment, not to mention having a bunch of killer dubplates at the ready!
