Fruit Palace Presents: K.O.G. & The Zongo Brigade + more!

January 16, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - January 17, 2016 @ 2:00 am

After two packed out shows, Fruit Palace are back, this time with potent Afro-centric vibes in the form of Afro fusionists KOG & The Zongo Brigade who always nice up the dance.

Supported by Congo-Latin party starters Grupo Lokito, who we first had the pleasure of witnessing at SOAS back in 2011.

On deck duty we gladly welcome back Bristol Afro electronica connoisseur Mango Park.

We all know what UK January is like so cast that aside as we invite you to come bathe under the heat of the African and Latin musical sun…

THIS MONTH:

Since hosting K.O.G. & The Zongo Brigade early last year the Sheffield based band have played the breadth of the UK festival circuit including Glastonbury through their Emerging Talent competition, where they were chosen from over 6000 bands to play the massive West Holts stage.

The 9-piece deliver infectious West African vibes from Ghana via Sheffield, with diverse origins conflating to whip up their signature heady brew of afrobeat, soul, funk and reggae otherwise dubbed “Afro-fusion”.

Fusing contemporary Congolese and Latin music Grupo Lokito create a modern day cocktail of two of the great world musics. The band features amazing musicians from the two traditions and have wowed audiences UK-wide with their fantastic grooves. The energetic front-line of singers are true performers, and when the music steps up a notch their outlandish dancing has to be seen to be believed. Bring your dancing shoes!

Mango Park has been bringing his high-energy and infectious blend of global underground dance music to club and festival audiences around the UK and Europe.

Primarily combining African, South American and Caribbean rhythms with European and UK electronic bass sounds, his sets have been known to encompass everything from soukouss to baile funk via soca, kuduro, dancehall, footwork, cumbia and grime. His forward-thinking and crowd-rocking sets are sure to keep you guessing and guaranteed to make you move!
