Common Tongues + Andrew Stuart-Buttle
May 19, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Dancing on the boundaries between rasping acoustics, bubbling electronics, intricate harmonies and acid-dipped violins, the Brighton 5-piece offer an absorbing, vital hit at their live shows whilst their records reveal immersive arrangements worthy of multiple listens and lyrical themes of conflict, decline and rebirth.
The language of Common Tongues might be their own but, when you choose to listen, you can’t help but understand it.
The band are seasoned performers having appeared at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape, Bestival, the Main Stage at Secret Garden Party and supported Villagers at Sligo Live. They regularly tour Europe including appearances at the Reeperbahn Festival, Summer Sounds and famous venues such as Ampere (Munich) & Uebel & Gefährlich (Hamburg). They have also played live on Dermot O’Leary’s Radio 2 show as part of the Cambridge Folk Festival.
Support comes from their very own Andrew Stuart-Buttle, doing a nice little solo set of violins, loops and many beautiful things.
The venue is open from 10:30am, serving food from 12-3pm and 6-10pm. Happy Hour is 5-7pm!
Music starts from 9pm
