Alex Curtis Quartet featuring Katina Kangaris on vocals

October 13, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Free entry!
The Alex Curtis Quartet features Alex on Piano/Rhodes, Jon Shenoy on Saxophones/Bass Clarinet, Dave O’ Brien on Bass, and Sophie Alloway on Drums. This Thursday we are really excited to have the truly amazing vocal talent that is Katina Kangaris joining us to perform a load of original songs that Alex has written for her and the band. Now, if that wasn’t enough to entice you, the equally amazing songstress Ana Silvera will be joining the band for a special guest slot!

About Ana Silvera:

Since the release of debut album ‘The Aviary’ in 2012 (Karamel Music Collective), singer-songwriter Ana Silvera’s work has garnered broad acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Recorded on both sides of the Atlantic, and featuring arrangements from Maxim Moston (Antony and the Johnsons), The Aviary has been described as ‘haunting grown-up fairy tales’ (Metro) and ‘a stunning album’ of ‘magical storytelling’ (The Guardian). In 2011, Ana collaborated with arranger/composer Alex Curtis on a seven part song cycle with the Roundhouse Experimental Choir for three successive, sold out nights in the Roundhouse Studios entitled ‘Oracles’.

About Katina Kangaris:

Katina Kangaris is a singer and songwriter whose most recent work was with the band Mavrika, taking old Greek Rembetika songs of the 1920s underworld and reworking them with a sparse and twisted, grungey vibe.  She has sung all sorts of music from contemporary opera and pop to working with hip hop bands and musical theatre companies.
